Meme of the Week: Dayro Moreno Makes All of Colombia Celebrate
First off, I want to apologize for not posting a Meme of the Week in such a long time. From now on, Meme of the Week will be a regular thing — every week there will be one, though it could drop on any day depending on how the football world delivers its best memes.
This week’s choice couldn’t be more perfect: Dayro Moreno once again made headlines in the Copa Sudamericana, and the reactions from fans (myself included) were too good not to share.
Meme and Context
English translation:
“You can’t celebrate goals that aren’t scored by your team”
Me celebrating Dayro Moreno’s goals with Once Caldas against the Ecuadorians
This meme pertains to Dayro Moreno’s performance on September 17th, during the first leg of the Sudamericana quarterfinals against Independiente del Valle. He scored a brilliant brace that gave Once Caldas a massive 2-0 win away in Ecuador. His goals not only secured a huge advantage for the return leg but also extended his lead as the tournament’s top scorer with 10 goals — the next best only has 6.
As many of you know, I’m an Independiente Medellín fan, but I can’t help but feel pride and celebrate what Once Caldas and Dayro are doing in this Sudamericana run. Hopefully, they can push all the way and win it (just not the league, of course).
What makes it even better is seeing how much love and praise Dayro gets from Colombian fans everywhere. Even Feid jumped in, gifting him a birthday shoutout with none other than Tito El Bambino, who dropped a parody remix of his iconic hit “Baile Morena” into “DAYRO MORENO! DAYRO MORENO!” Absolute gold.

The second leg will be played on September 24 in Colombia, where Once Caldas have the chance to seal their place in the semifinals. If they advance, they’ll face either Bolívar or Atlético MG. They’ve set themselves up perfectly in the first leg — now it’s all about finishing the job.
And that brings us to our Meme of the Week: Colombian fans (myself included) going crazy celebrating Dayro’s goals like they were our own team’s. Because sometimes, football joy is bigger than club lines.
Final Thoughts
Dayro keeps proving why he’s one of the most iconic scorers in Colombian football. Whether you’re an Once Caldas fan or not, it’s impossible not to celebrate what he’s doing right now. From the goals in Ecuador to Tito El Bambino singing his name, this whole run has been pure entertainment. Let’s see if Once Caldas can finish the job in Manizales and keep this dream alive.
