Crazy scenes in the Atanasio Girardot
Meme Context
The meme shows multiple chaotic clips from different soccer matches, with a caption comparing it to the Independiente Medellin vs. Envigado FC game on July 24, 2025. And honestly—he wasn’t wrong. This match was absolutely insane. It ended 4–3 in favor of Envigado, but the drama went way beyond just the number of goals.
Match Events
- 11’ – Didier Palacios (Envigado) scores a header from a corner.
- 25’ – Daniel Arcila (Envigado) converts a penalty after a foul by Daniel Londono.
- 38’ – Daniel Londono (Medellin) receives a straight red card for a vicious slide tackle.

- 70’ – Leyder Berrio (Medellin) is controversially sent off after lightly striking Envigado’s keeper in the chin—after being provoked and hit. Somehow, the keeper walks away without a card.
- 74’ – Daniel Arcila (Envigado) scores another penalty—this time after Washington Aguerre commits the foul.
- 84’ – Francisco Fydriszewski (Medellin) scores a penalty he won himself, after being absolutely wrecked by Envigado’s keeper (who only got a yellow).
- 89’ – Fydriszewski converts another penalty. This one was won by Perlaza, who got stepped on after hitting the post.
- 90’ +8 – Brayan Muniz picks up a second yellow for a dumb push from behind—completely unnecessary.
This game was nearly as wild as the one in the meme: 7 goals, 4 penalties, and 4 red cards. Painful result as a DIM fan, but it was a thriller from start to finish.

Match Thoughts
Despite the loss, Medellin actually played some good futbol. Even though they were trailing most of the game, they dominated possession, asked the questions, and created quality chances. The defense looked shaky at times, but overall, the performance was solid. Credit to Envigado, though—they were deadly on the break and executed a compact low block that frustrated Medellin all game long.
With this loss, Medellin has picked up just 1 point from a possible 9 and is still looking for its first win. I’m not too concerned yet—the football is there. But we do need to start picking up points if we want to make the playoffs and push for Copa Libertadores qualification.
Next up: July 27, 2025 vs. Union Magdalena, who currently sit just below us in 18th place, also with 1 point.
